Dragons are real.

The shock washes over you, slowly. You slowly come back to yourself and notice, as if for the first time, the person in front of you, sitting atop a majestic dragon. You know all about the dragon, naturally. Tale of Dragons has taught you a lot. Of course, until a few seconds ago, you had thought it was all fantasy…
You blink in the sunlight. Not long ago at all, you had been inside, on the computer, hatching your newest rare. So many incredible dragons… could they ALL be as real as the one standing in front of you?
“You can only have one,” says the figure on the dragon’s back. One dragon. That’s all? Online, you have tons. Then again, that’s a game. You’re shaken from your thoughts as the figure speaks again. “Now, come. Hurry! Usually, Mistland is only open to admins, but this is an emergency. We need everyone we can get who knows something about real dragons.”
“Wait,” you say. “I’m going where?” Your mind flashes to all the things you have to do today – (sports practice, work, school, whatever) – but this has got to be important. You don’t know the stranger on the dragon, but come on! Real dragons! Not hesitating any longer, you scramble on board the dragon’s back. No sooner do you have a grip than the rider calls out to their steed and the dragon’s wings lift. It shoots up into the sky as fast as a bullet – and then the world around you disappears.
“First, we need to get you a dragon. I needed to catch mine myself, but since we’ve had such a growth recently, you’ll just get yours from the hatchery that Silver and I built.”
Silver? Meaning… SILVER Silver? The founder of the site? … Oh.
“Wait. Who are YOU then?”
The rider doesn’t answer. It’s so dark, they may not even be there anymore. Suddenly, however, the dragon’s wings stop beating and you’re sitting in broad daylight, in front of the strangest building you’ve ever seen.
“Welcome to the hatchery on Mistland,” says the dragon rider with a slight smile. “Go right on in.” The rider then promptly flies away on their dragon into the sky until you can't see them any more.

Doves took a breath after patching Icarus as best she could, then looked up to see Riv about ready to drag her off. Okay, okay, coming coming. She thought hurriedly before grabbing her bags again and racing to where Riv was kneeling next to Riku. Little One was being very grumpy now, snapping reply's to any question she asked it, and just being an over all pain, though she did start pulling stuff out that Doves needed to re-bandage Riku's hands. First to Little One, then to Riv. You, little thing, are going to get your named changed to Storm if you keep up that act. And Riv... I'm going to need your help getting him onto a bed, and I don't think he's going to be a light weight. Little One replied in a pissed off tone. Well I'm sorry, my back is driving me INSANE over here, along with my belly, CUS I"M HUNGRY! Little One paused for a moment before continuing on, distractedly... I don't know why my back is bugging me, wait, are those wings? Oh, and seems like Skully's calling a meeting, Be back in a bit. At that moment Doves paused from her rushing with Riku to look at her, well, not so little dragon. Little One was already above knee hight-even with just standing on all fours-with small appendages growing out of her back, right in-front of her front legs, and the scales seemed to be mellowing out of color flickering, more often then not staying to the blues and reds.

((Sorry for being so late, Easter's been a bloody pain in my arse...
Lol, new page ^^))

((I think Easter has been a bloody pain in everyone's arses, to be fair. I haven't had nearly enough time to collect easter eggs either on here or on DC, and there are sooooo manyyyyy to get -.- Oh well *biiiig sigh*

@Invi: cute picture :P))

Riv looked around to see where her dragon had gone. She could definitely use some help getting Riku up on a bed. She was already tired enough from carrying the Tamer around half the bloody hatchery, her arms and back were hurting, and she was nearly ready to crumble from hunger. Skully was nowhere to be seen, though, and she couldn't get a good connection to him mentally either. Where in the blasted world was he?

This wasn't good. Whilst Doves and Little One growled at each other and patched Riku up, Riv sat back on her staunches and tried to figure out a way to get the boy to a bed without hurting herself more. But of course! She nearly stumbled whilst running to her bag at Melody's doorside where she'd left it. Shuffling through the items, she finally found the long slim box. Opening it she grabbed her wand. If Skully could do magic, so could she. She wouldn't have a wand otherwise.

Taking a deep breath the young woman concentrated on what she was about to do. Instead of risking a human being first, though, she pointed the wand towards a chair and opened her mouth. "Wingardium Leviosa!" she said with the exact right intonation (Hermione had been a good influence on her) and with a swish and a flick of her wand the chair slowly rose. It was such a surprise to her at first, she almost lost grip on the spell. But then, a feeling of utmost happiness filled her.

It had always, always been her dream to be able to do something magical, do something that not everyone could. She was talented enough to play musical instruments and do a few other things, but never talented enough to actually make people notice. So standing here, making that chair levitate, she felt like the queen of the world. It was amazing.

After a few more moments of glee she let the chair drop gracefully to the ground and stalked her way back to where Doves was about done with Riku. I found a way to get Riku to bed without us having to heave him up, she smiled at Doves as she waved her wand under her nose.

Skully rolled his eyes as he heard Terry's terribly off-tune singing. He'd almost flipped out when the other dragon had taken Icarus (he'd picked the name out of Terry's mind) up into the clouds, but somehow the creature seemed to be thoroughly enjoying herself (and who'd have known it was a girl?) and the mischievous prat he was, he couldn't resist the temptation of irking the Riders a bit with this. He climbed higher in the sky as well, laughing in his strange way, and joined the happy twosome in circling around.

After a few moments, though, he sobered up. It was fun and all, flying for the first time, and all the trouble-making, but somehow he felt as if his joy wasn't only his own. Some of it was definitely seeping from his human, and with his curiosity he just had to know why she was happy. Darned be this sketchy connection that didn't allow them to talk over longer distances yet. Ugh.

Guys, I'm don't want to be a fun-breaker here, but we really have to get inside again. As I said, I have something to tell all of the dragons, plus the humans are getting restless. Icarus needs to get back to her nest-thingie, he said to Terry, hoping against hope that the mischievous Thornback would finally see reason.

Melody's dreams were restless. They were full of shadowy figures and pointed fingers, labelling her a traitor and a failure, condemning her to prison and death. Little draconic creatures flitted in and out of focus. Fire in all colours burned everywhere. She was trapped in a corner, the shadows closing in on her, making her cower and plead for mercy. It was more than she could take. The pain was gone, but the aftershocks were worse. At least the pain kept her mind clear. This... this was the crazyness, slowly seeping in. She trashed and moaned, trying to get out of the clutches of the nightmare, but to no avail. Locked inside her own mind, she succumbed to the accusations.

((Man, that last paragraph. I'm a real writer XD For some reason I like describing dreams, or nightmares, or whatnot. They are just so.. easy, because you can basically think up ANYTHING XD))

Avalon reached Melody's room and peeked inside. There was Melody, who Avalon thought was probably asleep, but thrashing around unhappily. Avalon bit her lip. Nothing she could do about that. She saw the biggest silpetl in the corner, curled up uncomfortably, and the medium one resting nearby. Then Avalon's eyes widened. There had been three, she was sure of it. An involuntary yelp escaped her lips as she realized it was gone.

Melody jumped awake to a sudden noise. At first, she was relieved to have escaped from her nightmare. She shook herself awake and looked around. Then she noticed immediately. Where was Icarus? She whipped her head around at the doorway and saw a human head poking into the room. Avalon turned and looked back at her. Almost at the exact same time, they both said accusingly, "Where-"

terry turned to look at Icarus, who was humming a small tune. she puffed out a few blue sparks, that hung in the air like stars. she looked at him and said
"i wish i could breath fire and fly like you guys, I mean, when I'm an adult I'll be able to spit venom, and that's kinda cool, but fire would be fun...."
terry snorted. "who needs fire? fire's for skuly over there" he waved at skully. "I don't have fire because my species is toxic, but you don't need it to do this!"
terrador took in a large gust of wind and hung in the air for a moment, before breathing out a giant, roaring plume of venomous gas that illuminated the clouds around them bright gold and purple" it made a sort of howling noise as it drifted away in to the sky. woah. terry knew he was good, but not that good, and he felt quite giddy that he had accomplished something that big. he was best dragon. terry turned and returned to the hatchery with icarus.

meanwhile, back at the hatchery, Invi suddenly felt a rush of giddyness. she looked out of her window and blinked. huh

Melody jumped up. "Don't you know where she is?" she said. This had to be some sort of awful trick. What were they going to do to poor Icarus?

"Wait, she?" said Avalon in puzzlement. "Never mind. How did she escape? Is she going to attack us or something?" she said warily. She was still fearful of those weird creatures, and if one of them was going to send for help... she shuddered. But no, she doubted Melody would have sent one out alone. It wouldn't have made much sense, especially if probability was high that it would have gotten caught on the way out.

Melody was only slightly convinced that the girl wasn't faking. Most likely, they had taken Icarus away, and she had been checking to see if she had noticed yet. That would've had to be it. She looked at the other girl in fury. "What are you going to do to her?" she yelled.

"What am I going to do?" Avalon replied. "I'm going to go find it before it hurts someone!"

"Well then, I'm coming with you," Melody said stubbornly. "I want to make sure you don't hurt her."

Avalon sighed, but acquiesced. Vuelie, forget the meeting. I need you to help me out watching this girl. I still don't trust her one bit. And get someone to guard this door, too. One of them out means more could get out. All right, Vuelie answered. She turned to the nearest non-busy creature, Xulca. The monster's door needs a guard, she said. Do you mind? I need to go assist my rider. She then flew - yes, flew, with a few short wingbeats - up the staircase and joined the two girls.

Melody shrank back a little as the gold dragon landed only a few inches from her feet, but she figured. She wasn't going to get a chance to bolt any time soon. The creature's expression confirmed that. The three walked down the corridor on the left, Avalon in the lead.

(Sorry, Easter was rough on me!)

After all the commotion that had gone on with Melody, Shace had sequestered herself away and locked the door to her room. She had settled into bed with Xulca asleep at her feet when she heard Skully's call for a meeting.

After trying to open the door and pick the lock with her claws, she opted instead to melt the door handle. (Quicksilvers don't breathe fire, instead they can manipulate metal. Most weapons are enchanted to prevent a Quicksilver's tampering with it. If that's okay with you, Avalon.) arriving just in time to have Yuelle give her the order to guard the creature's room.

Xulca snorted, settling by the creature's door, staring at it intently.

((@Doves: I'm going to go ahead and finish up the Riku-business so I can follow Avalon and Melody outside. Looks like it's gonna be fun out there XD

@Shace: you're back! =) I wonder if Lucky's ever gonna come back...

@Avalon: I thought Icarus was the smallest one *confused look* At least I seem to remember from Invi's original post where she first stated the names for the creatures that Icarus was the small one.. but I might be mistaken, can't really be bothered to go double-check right now..
Oh, and where did we have a staircase in the dorms? XD))

With the already familiar-feeling swish and flick, Riv proudly stated the incantation and levitated Riku to the room with his name on it, through the door and onto the bed. Lowering him slowly onto it felt as natural to her as breathing. Her face curled up in a big smile, but turned into a frown not a moment later when some commotion from the common room troubled her happy thoughts.

Stomping outside again, feeling like she'd been cheated out of a few moments of well-deserved peace and quiet, and especially from food, she found Avalon and Melody looking flustered at the Tamer's door, with the latter yelling something at Avalon. Riv started towards the girls, furious at whoever had woken her up and let her out, but before she could open her mouth to berate them, she suddenly was flooded with pictures, feelings and thoughts from Skully. It was like the connection had finally honed out and was now letting everything through.

At first came the glee of being in the air. The air? Skully was flying, without her seeing him do it for the first time? She felt a pang of envy and confusion. Then, however, came the thoughts that cleared up the Melody-Avalon situation. So Terry had sneaked one of the creatures out. A she? Icarus? Interesting choice of a name for a wingless creature. Still deep in Skully's thoughts, she absentmindedly followed Avalon, Melody and Vuelie as they set out to search for the creatures. She knew she could tell them where they were, but something told her to keep quiet.

Skully was visibly relieved when Terry and Icarus landed near the hatchery. He followed suit and landed gracefully, touching the ground light-footed. What a rush the flying had brought him. It was wonderful and he couldn't wait to do it again. However, there were more pressing matters now. He'd felt the connection suddenly settle and knew that by now Riv knew everything that had happened. He knew they were on their way to find them, but Riv was apparently buying him time by not telling where they were exactly.

He turned towards Terry. Listen, they found out you guys took off. It looks pretty bad to them, and you know it. So once they find us, please try to be as apologetic as you can. I know it's hard for a dragon to do, believe me, but for the sake of our humans, at least try and look like you know what you did was wrong, he told the bigger dragon, hoping again that he had enough brain cells in that gassy mind of his to understand what this really meant.

Melody was still fuming. Something had happened to Icarus, she was sure of it, and those Riders were to blame. She marched behind Avalon, stealing furtive glances at the golden dragon beside her, and didn't even pay attention to Riv who was walking as if in a haze. She knew the brunette girl in green wouldn't hurt her or her creatures. She'd understood that much of her, and she seemed a woman of her word. But that couldn't be said of the other Riders. She was sure this was some plot to make her look like she commanded Icarus to escape and make her pay for that.

((Okay, about the stairs, at the very beginning when we came to this room (many, many pages ago, like page four or something), invi said she went up the stairs to another group of rooms and slept there, instead of being in the group of beds in the main area. I figured that part didn't change when the bottom area re-formatted, as it was already separated by doors. And, since invi stated that Melody's room was right across from hers, I concluded that it was upstairs as well.

As for Icarus... I thought she was the smaller of the two battling creatures, but that the REALLY smallest one, Samus, permanently stayed on Melody's shoulder during the battle. Icarus was the one who got shot with your arrow, right? We already agreed on that? I imagined her to be too big to fit on a shoulder. Maye I got everything backwards, I dunno. XD

Yay Shace! No problem - I've been struggling to find time for this too. Speaking of that, no time to make a post right now. Tomorrow afternoon I will.))

(yes, you got it backwards. samus is the one with the crystals and wings, he was the larger one who attacked. I'm going to assume the two grow just like dragons do, and so they would be bigger now than the time of the attack. but the two are pretty much the same size, with samus being just an inch and a half bigger than his sister. I'm gonna make a size chart or something....)

invi walked out of her room to find the others. she followed them from a distance, and only approached when riv did. melody and avalon seamed to be having an argument, and riv was in a trance. lovely. she walked past them, and found that melody wasn't just mad at avalon, but apparently all of them, as she attempted to trip her up

((I agree with Invi partly. I shot Icarus, the smallest one, with the arrow, and then Melody swooped down and got her off the floor just before Samus and the thug attacked. That's why she had been on Melody's shoulder later.

Invi, you did mention, though, just when Samus attacked you, that he was about the size of a small horse if I remember correctly, and that's definitely bigger than a regular dog that you mentioned Icarus to be in one of your Terry-posts where they were flying, just a page or so back, so if both have been growing for this time, Samus would now be a full-grown horse size, more or less, nothing close to his sister with her dog-size. He would be more close to Terry, I imagine, since Terry's a young adult dragon, and those tend to be about the size of bigger horses or such, if I remember my lore correctly.

In any case, that's what I'm imagining them like after these posts.

And about the stairs, okay. That makes sense. I'll rearrange my head-picture of the room then xD))
