You may have read my short description of Souls of Kiarza on the other webpage, but that isn't all the writing I've been doing recently. Especially since my Creative Writing course last year, I've produced some pretty okay stuff, and you're welcome to read a bit here if you want. :-, This is about everything I'm actually proud enough of to associate with myself that's also... well, not necessarily complete, but... substantial, I guess would be the term. "The Flectioneer" is nowhere near complete (nor is the sequel/prequel... which there's going to be someday), but I've got a 5-page mini-arc done; the intro to "Hold My Hand" is finished, and I'm at least making progress on the rest of it (it won't be all that long... although I tend to say that and then write four times what I had planned to); and the poetry is all complete (well, in a first-rough-draft-ish sort of way). All rights reserved, which I'm pretty sure is legal code for "be nice and don't steal this stuff." If you do want to use it for something, just visit the Comments/Questions page and drop me a note! If I were fortunate enough to have someone else want to base their own work off one of my pieces, I'd love to see what you do with it. ^^
The Flectioneer
Synopsis: "The Flectioneer" is a fantasy semi-surrealist short story about a twelve-year-old alien girl (close to human in appearance) named Myre and her tracker "dog" named Daedalus. The two of them are employed by an interdimensional organization tasked with collecting stray magical energy in order to maintain the balance between science and magic (she absorbs it through her gold-faced hand mirror, which is also her most valuable tool and magically linked to her). One dimensional assignment, however, turns out to be much more important than initially thought, and much more dangerous.
Inspiration: I had a dream in eighth grade which was basically an outline of the full plot, and wrote my first draft of "The Flectioneer" the next morning (then called "The Golden Looking Glass"). The new title was inspired partially by the words "reflection" and "engineer," and partially by the band The Lumineers (which I had just discovered). I revised it again a few months ago and developed the beginning into a short story for my Creative Writing class; however, I have yet to write the rest.
Length: The beginning portion is 5 pages; full story is projected to be three or four "chapters" (somewhere around 40 pages).

Hold My Hand
Synopsis: "Hold My Hand" is told from the perspective of two characters: a lonely, isolated young woman who lives in an old cottage in the middle of nowhere, and her imaginary friend, whom she has not believed in since childhood. The story follows her continued resistance to admitting his existence, and eventually develops into a complex philosophical commentary on the nature of reality. Or, at least, that's what I have planned for it. Right now, all I have complete is the introduction (first two pages).
Inspiration: The piece is mainly inspired by the song "Little Talks" by Of Monsters and Men; or, more precisely, my rather unusual interpretation of the meaning of the lyrics. (I'm completely obsessed with this song right now and I wanted to actually do something with it.)
Length: Currently 2 pages; full story is projected to be around 10, though it may grow longer as I add more details.
